How to use this website

This website is designed as a resource for small business and community organisations that want to learn more about the benefits of an online presence and how to go about developing one. The Department of Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy has developed this site as part of its commitment to maximise the benefits of the digital economy for all Australians. For more information about the Department’s work on the digital economy, see: www.dbcde.gov.au/digital_economy.

Finding your way around the site

You can find relevant information in this website in a number of different ways. On every page of this website, you can find information via the right hand menu, site map or search bar.

The menu on the side of each page provides a list of all the main sections of this site. Use the site map link in the top middle of any page to browse to a more detailed list of all main sections and subsections. Or simply use the search bar to find the topics that interest you.

When you are reading through the content, you can also browse by clicking on the ‘next’ and ‘back’ buttons identified at the end of each topic. In addition, the tag cloud on the home page can help you identify blog posts that are relevant to the content of interest to you.

We have also organised the site into themes to provide you with another way to discover topics. If you are not sure what exactly you are looking for, explore the themes of this site.

Tell us what you think

The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy is always interested in your feedback on how to improve this site, or suggestions about adding new features or information. Please share your ideas with us by clicking on the feedback tab at the bottom of any page on this website and tell us your suggestions.

Participate in an ongoing discussion

From time to time, we hope to use this site as a platform for specific interactive discussions on topics relevant to digital businesses and community organisations. We will promote these on the site in advance. We will also promote these discussions via the Department’s Twitter account using the #digibiz hashtag and on the digitalbusiness.gov.au blog.

We hope that a community of people will develop with an interest in getting more Australian businesses and community organisations online and using digital technologies more effectively. If you have information to share on this topic and have a Twitter account, feel free to add our hashtag to your tweets to contribute to this discussion and so we can track your suggestions.

This website also provides a wide range of links and references to other sites that contain interesting and useful information. These are included, where relevant, within the content of the site and are also listed in the useful links page.

Accessibility

Accessibility is an important issue to ensure that everyone, including people, who have a visual, physical or hearing impairment or difficulty reading or comprehending text, can experience your online presence. We include information about how you can do this in our useability and navigation section.

We’re also keen to make sure this site is accessible as well, and try to set an example. In addition, the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 requires Australian Government departments and agencies to ensure that online information and services are accessible by people with disabilities. As of 23 December 2010, we have confirmed that this site complies with all relevant Level AA checkpoints from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0. For the scope and further details of this website’s accessibility conformance, download the Statement of Accessibility Conformance (RTF, 240 KB).
