Birdsnest

From a bricks and mortar store in regional NSW, Birdsnest has grown into one of Australia’s leading online fashion retailers. Operating under the motto for everything but the girl, it stocks over 120 brands to outfit women head to toe. According to the website, the online store targets ‘intelligent, resourceful and fashion conscious women’ and offers a range of unique shopping options designed to make the whole shopping experience more intuitive and enjoyable, including the ability to shop by occasion, body shape or colour.
After four years operating out of their Cooma store, the Birdsnest online store was launched in 2008 just as the economy was hit by the global financial crisis. And in the three years since, the Birdsnest team has grown from 5 people to 40 people to keep up with the demand. The website currently records over one million views a month, making them one of the top 50 apparel sites in Australia. 70 per cent of its sales are repeat customers. In 2011, Birdsnest was a finalist in the BRW Australian Retailer of the Year Awards.
